1-Can you give me a little history on Audio Kollaps?

Andreas K: Started 1648 a.d.

Björn: 3 of us played in Recharge before, when we split up we started with a new singer under a new name with harder music than before. Did a split EP with Wolfbrigade and a full length LP / CD called “Ultima Ratio” on Epistrophy Records. We´re going to record some new stuff soon.

2-Your lyrics are mostly about stuff like war, pollution, death etc. Why do you write about such negative things? How important are the lyrics to you?

Jens: I never write lyrics. If I can´t identify with lyrics that were written by other members, there will be a veto.

Björn: The world is negative itself. Lyrics are very important, that´s why we always print them on our releases.

Andreas K: What negative? I mean our lyrics are very flowery yet. Take a look around. Go and see the city of “Flint” or visit Hanover / Germany. Our hell on earth. I don´t think we´re living in some kind of strawberry world. I´m not free. I can only choose the thieves, who steel my money and which assholes give me orders. But someday something will change, I promise.

3-What are your views on religion, the church, god, satan ect. Are you afraid of dying?

Jens: Fuck it. It depends on the way it happens.

Andreas K: I´m more interested in the philosophical way to see things. Just as the Stoizism. It´s about “sitting our problems” etc. Church is superfluous. Satan is no threat to me, just as death, it´s the same. Always do the right thing. That´s all I think.

4-Do you play a lot gigs ? Are there a lot of halls and clubs to play at?

Jens: No and yes.

Andreas K: Not a lot. We have a huge number of these old nazi war industries with gigantic halls where they build submarines and bombers. And a lot of old soviet forces facilities, and many independent clubs in the cities. Some serious, some not.

5-Are there a problems with fascist/racist clowns at gigs?

Jens: Usually not.

Andreas K: Not many. But in some countries they rule the streets of some villages and small towns. And even the cops are pissing themselves by fear. This year they tortured and murdered a young guy in East Germany and threw his body into a cesspool. They said: Because of his coloured hair and his hip hop pants… .

6-Are there any cool bands from Germany that you think people should check out?

Jens: Sanity´s Dawn, Accion Mutante, Viu Drakh, Plexus, Sanitär, Annex5.

Andreas K: Many. Old heros which don´t play no more and good new ones like Sanitär, as Jens said. At the moment my faves are the older Cotzbrocken – and.. well, don´t know, Kassierer, perhaps, or take a look at question 12, check em out!

7-What do you think about the Internet and the punk community? good or bad? Why?

Björn: Good way to distribute ideas

Jens: I´m not online.

Andreas K: 1) Offline, 2) It´s like it is with every community. 80% sucks and 20% is ok. 15 years ago I liked it better cause there were more common interests among leatherpunx, punk concerts with aftershow parties, where they played all kinds of indie – music. That was more funny.

8-What do you think about downloading programs that let people download your music freely, and other bands music as well. Do you think this is a good or bad idea?

Björn: It´s good for promotion anyway. Only the big labels are concerned, but they earn enough money anyway.

Jens: I´m offline.

Andreas K: Offline! And money is not my currency.

9-What do you do outside the band? Do you work? Run a record label? Distro??

Jens: I´m a student.

Björn: I work as a computer system administrator and webmaster, also writing for the Plastic Bomb Zine, doing a punk radio show with Kai, playing drums for Annex5 and of course get drunk as often as possible.

Andreas K: Hanging in. Waiting for a job. Playing in other combos. Waiting for better times. I have an ape – collection, gorillas, chimps, stuff like that. Some soccer in the summertime.

10-Does the whole band drink? What are your favorite beers?

Jens: Some times. Cold and bitter.

Andreas K: Our Kai drinks least. Cold Beer, 4,9% Vol. I think Becks is the most comfortable to consume.

Björn: Hansa Pils (half liter bottles) from the Plus Supermarket, only 25 cents!

11-What do you think about drugs?

Jens: No comment

Andreas K: Which sorts of drugs? Mariuana: Si! El Polvo: No!
