Interview
(taken from the "No Bullshit" Zine)

1-can you give us brief history of your band?

Björn: We formed in 1998 after our former band “Recharge” had split up. Our guitarist changed to bass, our second guitarist changed to lead guitar, I remained on drums and we got a new singer. So we started to make noise.

Andreas K: AK was formed in 1987 by the chief of main political directorate, Mr. A.D. Lizichev, member of the Stavka of the Soviet Supreme High Command under M.S. Gorbachev.

2-who are the band that influence you?why?

Jens: There are many. Because I like their music.

Björn: One of my favourites are still Napalm Death because they combine hard and heavy music with political lyrics.

Andreas K: Don´t know why but it is: Anti Nowhere League, Beatles, Beastie Boys, Billy Idol, Boney M., Colera, Captain Sensible, Sewer Zombies, Supertramp, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, Karikas, Eric B. + Rakeem, everything what comes from far South East.

3-some of your songs are all about drinking, drugs, and politics, who write most of the songs?what push you to write songs like those?

Jens: Kai, Paul, Björn – I don´t know what´s going on with them, they´re crazy! .

4-does some of you guys have other businesses,or any activities that you are connected to?

Jens: I´m a student.

Björn: I work as computer administrator and webmaster, also I do a punk radio show, write for a fanzine, play in a second band called “Annex5” (www.annex5.de) and like to get drunk.

Andreas K: Minigolfing? I´m unemployed.

5-where did you get your name Audio Kollaps?why?

Jens: We got it from Björn.

Björn: Was it really me, I can´t remember… .

6-are all your songs in german?like in Ultima Ratio?why?

Jens: We´re from Germany

Björn: It´s more personal to address the audience in a language that everyone understands easily. For the foreign audience we have a translation sheet in our records.

Andreas K: I don´t speak any foreign tongue.

7-how many album have you done?(splits,lp,ep,etc.)what was your favorite?which was the hardest record you did why?

Andreas K: Good questions.

Björn: . Our first release was a split 7”EP with Wolfpack (now Wolfbrigade) from Sweden. In 2001 we travelled to Sweden to record our first album “Ultima Ratio” which was released as LP and CD. Our latest release is a 12” EP / CD called “Music from an extreme sick world”. All our releases can be obtained thru www.epistrophy.de.
I think the hardest one to record was our “Ultima Ratio” album because we didn´t have much time and we had to redo the mixing afterwards. My favourite is the new one because it´s the tightest.

8-do you play in other countries?do you have plans to go Asia?

Jens: I would like to do so but I can´t pay it and I don´t have very much time.

Andreas K: That´s a question of money. And Asia is damned far away. We are not what they call rich men. Rich men go to Asia for holidays.

9-is it hard to be a punk in your country?is your scene divided?

Jens: I think in the whole world it´s most easiest to be punk in Germany.

Björn: We have quite a good scene and a lot of good gigs. The scene is not as divided as in many other countries I think.

Andreas K: Germany, some people say, is the best one for punks. I am going to agree.

10-what are your future plans from the band?

Jens: Make the next album.

Björn: We are rehearsing a lot at the moment because the new songs are quite complicated.

11-any closing statements that you would like to share to our readers?

Jens: Enjoy life as long as you can.

Björn: Don´t get yourself blinded by any government or religion. And don´t let “O-Zone” dominate your charts, give the “Holzmichl” song a chance.

Andreas K: You & all your readers shall live long and in peace and don´t get caught up by asshole fanatics of any color.
