1-Please tell a little about the band and its history.

Jens: First Recharge, then Audio Kollaps.

Björn: AUDIO KOLLAPS was found in the autumn of 1998 in Hanover/Germany by three members of the hardcore punk band RECHARGE and a new shouter. We play hard and aggressive music, combined with short and concise lyrics; a brutal mixture of grind, death metal and hardcore punk.

2-Have you played in any bands before?

Kai: No.

Jens: Recharge.

Andreas K: AJD, Flodders, Polsa, F.O.C., Recharge, Vendetta, Vice Squad Coverband, Kinderlähmung, Atomare Handfeuerwaffen.

Björn: AJD, Flodders, Polsa, F.O.C., Chemical Maze, Recharge, The Losers, Vendetta, Vice Squad Coverband, Angry Samoans Coverband.

3-What do you do except band?

Jens: I´m student of history and political science.

Andreas K: Drinking too much.

Björn: Doing a job as webmaster and system administrator, working for advertising companies, doing a punk radio show, writing for a zine.

4-On what positions do the musicians of the band stand? Are you involved in any organizations or movements?

Kai: Yes! I support the local Antifa group.

Jens: I´m not involved in attac, but I agree with many of their positions.

Andreas K: I´m some kind of European part-time communist.

Björn: No time for any other involvement. Positons? We´re all equal.

5-What are you songs about?

Jens: Death, murder, drug abuse, society, friendship and stuff like that.

Kai: Politics, society, suicide and criticism of our own.

6-How do you write songs? Do you write it a together? Who write the lyrics?

Jens: Sometimes one of us makes the whole music for a song and then the lyrics are written later. Sometimes one makes the whole song and sometimes we make a song together.

Björn: Sometimes the music comes first, sometimes we have the lyrics written before.

Kai: Everyone makes a little bit and everyone can critisise.

7-What is more important for the band. Uniqueness of the music, energy, sincerity, anything else?

Jens: There are a lot of things which are important for the band; you already mentioned some.

8-Are there any sXe, vegetarians, vegans in the band?

Kai: Only one and that´s me.

Jens: Kai is vegetarian.

Andreas K: I like German Bratwurst.

9-Is there a separation in your country’s scene between HC, punk, crust, emo or do you all play together?

Jens: It´s different from town to town. But in general there is one.

Kai: I think in the last years people stay more and more together.

10-Are there any bands that influenced you?

Kai: I like old-school punk and hardcore and wave and there is nothing inside of our own music.

Jens: Bolt Thrower, Napalm Death, Nasum, Carcass, Slayer, Phobia, Entombed, Krisiun, Marduk, Vomitory, Morbid Angel, Vader, Terrorizer, Immolation, Dying Fetus and a lot of punk and hardcore bands.

Andreas K: The Who.

Björn: Discharge, Exploited, Bolt Thrower, Napalm Death.

11-Which of the current bands do you consider interesting?

Jens: Nasum and Phobia.

Andreas K: Beastie Boys.

Björn: Gluecifer.

12-Do you play abroad?

Jens: If we get payed enough, we do. We don´t pay the expenses ourselves because we cannot afford it.

13-What releases does you band have?

Björn: The first one was a song for the Tribute to Rattus Comp. CD , released on Fight Records in 2000, followed by a Split 7” EP with Wolfbrigade (from Sweden) in 2001. After this a videoclip for our song “5 vor 12” was produced. In 2002 the Ultima Ratio LP/CD came out on Epistrophy Records (www.epistrophy.de).
